Earn your degree or diploma at your own pace anytime, anywhere, with the support of a skilled instructor and your student colleagues.

Academic programs at ACAS are student-centered. Our students are empowered and actively engaged learners. When you enter our college community, our faculty and administration become committed to your well-being, learning, and growth. In order to allow you to gain power in the classroom our instructors do not simply lecture and let you take a passive role. They design activities that allow you to take initiative for your learning experience in order for you to discover meaningful information and develop knowledge and skills that will enhance your future professional and personal life.

How do I learn online?
In the web-based online classroom, your instructor will provide lots of feedback on your work as an individual and as a member of your scholarly group. Classroom participation is asynchronous. While online instructor-lead semesters and classes begin every calendar quarter (January, April, July, and October) and continue for 12-weeks, you have the flexibility to login to your classroom anytime, anywhere, night or day, to access course material, complete your online research and writing, and communicate your findings, thoughts and new ideas to your instructor and colleagues through scholarly writing about the week’s topic. On occasion, instructors may arrange a real-time chat or teleconference in a course to further enhance your learning experience. These real-time meetings are arranged well in advance for your convenience. In the ACAS online learning environment, your instructor is not a lecturer but instead a facilitator of student-centered learning. Students and instructors learn from each others knowledge, experiences, and work through the process of academic discovery.
How do I apply and test my newly acquired knowledge?
All programs at ACAS include individual and collaborative learning projects, intensive 5-day academic residencies, and in some cases externships in real-world working environments. For degree students, an empirical scientific research project is also often required. Our goal is to establish a foundation of theory and critical thinking skills for you in the online environment and then provide a venue for you to apply and test your newly acquired knowledge in the real world under the supervision of a faculty member or other qualified professional. Learning, doing, constructive feedback, personal reflection- these are the cornerstones of learning and acquiring an education at ACAS.
How am I evaluated?
Assessment at ACAS is unlike that of traditional brick-and-mortar colleges or universities. There is less pressure and stress placed on you by eliminating your need to cram for exams and get to and arrive on time to a class several times a week. While some courses require online open-book testing, emphasis is placed on your reading, online research, writing, critical thinking skills, and individual and collaborative project work. Each week you will research a lesson topic, write about, and post it for your instructor and student colleagues to read and comment on. You will also respond to the posts of your classmates and your instructor in your online classroom as well. Learning is collaboration between you and your colleagues as lead by an expert instructor.
