Our Academic Programs
Applied science is the discipline dealing with the art or science of applying scientific knowledge to practical problems. Our
graduates are poised to take on the toughest challenges, develop and implement solutions to problems and, in doing so, can
help to make the world a better place. ACAS academic programs are robust, unique and constantly evolving. Our new graduate
programs in Companion Animal Behavior Counseling and Animal Shelter Management are designed to produce confident
professionals with the knowledge and skills to make a difference in the lives of companion animals and the communities in
which they live. Our undergraduate program in companion animal sciences is unique and specific in its subject matter,
relating only to dogs, cats, birds, horses and other companion animals, rather than all animals. Our career diploma program
entitled Canine Behavior Specialist will allow students to complete this technician-level career program in around a year.
Upon successful completion of mentored supervision by a member of the Board of Professional Certification, graduates are
eligible for different levels of professional certification with the internationally-recognized Association of Companion
Animal Behavior Counselors.
Our Faculty
Our faculty is comprised of outstanding professors and instructors who bring to our student body both
academic distinction and real-world experience in their respective fields. Faculty members provide each and every student
with a strong sense of community, dedication to their future field, and a first-rate learning experience. An enrollment
counselor from our office of the Dean of Students will help you with your choice of courses and career direction making sure
that when you leave us, you will have the essential qualifications for success. We work as hard as you to make sure that you
get the most out of your time at ACAS.
Our Students
Our students hold full-time and part-time jobs, raise families, and generally have busy lifestyles. They live in cities and
rural communities in the U.S. and in other places and cultures internationally. The most important threads that hold us
together as a college community is a desire to learn and grow, a sense of community service, and compassion about people,
animals and our environment. The people you meet and the friends you make at ACAS will be an important part of your
education. Friendships developed on line and in our residencies can last a lifetime.
