General Admissions Criteria:

All students
1. be 18 years of age or older or have written permission from a parent or legal guardian to enroll in a college program and register for classes, and must attest to their age as part of the enrollment agreement.
2. complete an admissions application with goals essay.
3. complete an Enrollment Agreement for each attending semester

Masters Level Requirements:
Unconditional Admissions

  1. Applicants who have completed a master's or higher degree from an accredited college or university will be admitted unconditionally. No test score is required. An official transcript showing completion of a masters degree or higher is required. Students with a master's degree from an unaccredited institution should see Admission from Unaccredited Institutions
  2. Applicants holding a baccalaureate degree from an accredited College or University with minimum overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale) or 3.0 grade point average on the last 30 semester hours. All hours completed in the term in which the 30 hours were reached will be used to calculate the grade point average. All transcripts are required for admission. Students with a baccalaureate degree from an unaccredited institution should see Admission from Unaccredited Institutions
  3. Completion of the ACAS admissions application
  4. Completion of the goals essay. See Goals Essay Requirements
  5. Applicants must achieve a scaled score of of 200 or higher or a percentile score of 30 or higher on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). For complete information download the Candidate Information Book, via the MAT website. Our MAT school code is 2650.

    Official copies of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) will be accepted in lieu of the MAT. The minimum achieved GRE score should be 500 on the verbal and 500 on the quantitative portions of the GRE, for an overall minimum total of 1000 points. The MCAT and the VCAP examination may be substituted for the MAT for graduates of accredited veterinary schools. Any test score received by ACAS must not be older than 10 years.

Conditional Admission:
Conditional admission may be granted under certain circumstances to applicants who cannot satisfy all unconditional admission requirements.

Baccalaureate Degree Holders
Conditional admission may be granted under certain circumstances to applicants who cannot satisfy all unconditional admission requirements. Baccalaureate Degree Holders.

Students who earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university but lack all requirements for unconditional admission, such as an acceptable test score, may be granted conditional admission for a maximum of 6 semester hours with a 3.0 grade point average. Students will be granted unconditional admission after completion of the 6 semester hours with a 3.0 grade point or better average.

When these conditions have been satisfied, the program dean will notify the student in writing and send a copy of such notification to the Department. Approved graduate course work taken while the student is under conditional status will apply toward the graduate degree. A student who fails to maintain a 3.0 grade point average on the first 6 semester hours attempted will automatically be dropped from the program. A student may petition for readmission after one calendar year.


Bachelors Level Entrance Requirements:

    Unconditional Admission
    1. Applicants who have completed an associate’s or higher degree with minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale) or 3.0 grade point average from an accredited college or university will be admitted unconditionally. No test score is required. An official transcript showing completion of an associate’s or higher is required. Students with an Associate’s degree from an unaccredited institution should see Admission from Unaccredited Institutions.
    2. Completion of the ACAS admissions application.
    3. Completion of the goals essay.

    Conditional Admission
    1. Applicants must have completed an associate’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
    2. Students not satisfying the Unconditional Admission requirements may be conditionally admitted to the program pending satisfactory completion of the first 6 semester hours with a 3.0 grade point average.
    3. Students not satisfying conditional admission requirements will be dropped from the program for one calendar year at which time the student must petition for readmission. The bachelor’s degree is a senior level program. This means that applicants must have completed at least 60 credits or an Associates level degree at an accredited college.


Diploma Level Requirements:

    Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.

Continuing Education requirements:

    Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.

Admission from Unaccredited Institutions:

    Students seeking admission to ACAS who have received their degree from an institution not recognized and accredited by one of the regional accrediting agencies must be approved for admission by the Dean of the school. The following materials must be submitted to the Admissions Office thirty days in advance of the initial enrollment:

    1. an application for admission.

    2. an official transcript and a transcript from all schools at which the student has completed courses.

    3. Students are also required to submit the following in addition to an official transcript:

    1. course syllabi
    2. faculty credentials
    3. grading standards
    4. a school catalogue

Transfer of Credit:

    Masters Program:
    A maximum of four masters level courses (12 credits) taken at another accredited institution each with a grade of "B" or better can be applied toward the masters level graduate degrees. These courses must be comparable in catalog description to ACAS courses in the Masters of Science degree programs and must be approved by the dean of the program to which the student is applying.

    Bachelors Program:
    Applicants holding an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from an accredited junior or community college or college or university may transfer 20 courses (60 semester hours) toward the undergraduate bachelor degree requirements. Individuals who have completed course work similar to courses offered by ACAS may submit information for consideration for transfer. A total of 25% of coursework must be completed at ACAS in order to earn a bachelors degree.

    Diploma Program:
    A maximum of two courses (6 credits) taken at another accredited institution each with a grade of "B" or better can be applied toward the diploma program. These courses must be comparable to the catalog description of ACAS courses in the relative diploma program and must be approved by the dean of the program.

    Transfer to Other Schools, Colleges, and Universities:
    The decision to accept course credit from ACAS to another school or college is solely up to the school being transferred to. ACAS is not accredited and therefore acceptance of transfer credits to another institution is up to the transferring institution.

Denial of Admission:
Students will be denied admission if they fail to meet admissions standards. These records will be kept for one year from the date of denial.
