Program Description and Objectives

The objective of this program is to prepare individuals with an interest in working with animals for positions in the field of animal science and care with specific emphasis on domesticated companion animals. Students study foundation and upper level courses in biology, psychology, learning and behavior, animal atomy/physiology, welfare, nutrition, reproduction, endocrinology, pharmacology and behavioral ecology. A field study project is also a requirement.

Graduates may work for animal training organizations, animal shelter and welfare organizations, the government, veterinarians or may go on to graduate school to become animal related executives, managers, counselors, teachers or veterinarians.

The bachelors program is a senior level program. Therefore students must enter with an Associates level degree and/or a minimum of 60 credits from an accredited college or university. The program typically takes from two to three years to complete.
